Hungerford Town 0-0 Poole Town – Match Report
Poole Town earnt a hard-fought valuable point on the road against Hungerford Town at Bulpit Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Joe Lea and Pat Suraci made two changes from the 3-0 win over Gosport Borough with Corey Jordan new signing Owen Dore coming into the starting eleven.
The game got underway in Hungerford with neither side able to gain control in the early stages as the rain poured down onto the Bulpit Lane surface.
Charlie Davis went close on the 2nd minute, his effort drifted narrowly wide of Luke Cairney’s post.
The home side had a chance to open the scoring with a header on target, but his effort was denied by the linesman’s’ flag.
Billy Lowes produced some silky moves on the 25th minute, his deflected effort fell to Ik Hill who was unable to get his shot away.
Poole had the best chance of the half moments before the break; Josh McCormick’s strike flicked off the post and went behind for a goal kick with the half drawing to a goalless close.
The Dolphins came out the blocks for the second 45, Shaquille Gwengwe’s headed effort was unable to hit the back of the net as it fell into the hands of ex-Dolphin Cairney.
Despite Poole’s domination of the ball, it seemed like it wasn’t going to be their day as they were unable to find that decisive goal after creating multiple openings.
Harvey Slade almost found the opener for Lea and Suraci’s side, as he pulled it across the face of goal for Gwengwe who couldn’t convert from close range.
Conor Mcdonagh had the golden chance of the match for Hungerford, in the dying moments, but he was unable to keep his shot down.
The referee’s whistle brough proceedings to an end with both sides taking a point in a 0-0 draw at Bulpit Lane.
