Charlie Coyle Pens Heartfelt Goodbye to Bruins Months After Trade
The Boston Bruins were sellers at last year’s trade deadline, and Charlie Coyle was one of the many impact players the team dealt.
The Bruins traded Coyle and a fifth-round pick to the Colorado Avalanche for Casey Mittelstadt, Will Zellers and a second-round pick.
This week, ahead of the 2025-26 season, Coyle took time to reflect on his time with Boston and said goodbye to Bruins fans.
“I can’t feel anything other than grateful & fortunate to have played for the Boston Bruins for 6 years,” Coyle wrote. “It fulfilled a lifelong dream to be able to wear the Bruins sweater & play at home in front of all my family & friends.
“There are so many different people to thank who helped shape me & get me to where I am, who gave me the opportunity, and those who cheered me on & supported me throughout,” Coyle added. “I owe a lot – but just know I appreciate & thank you all! So many great memories have been made that I’ll have with me the rest of my life.”
Coyle played parts of seven seasons with the Bruins and helped Boston reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2019.
In his seven seasons with the Bruins, Coyle skated in 452 games, recording 96 goals and 134 assists for 230 points. He also appeared in 75 playoff games, recording 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points.
Despite the Avalanche paying a hefty price for Coyle, Colorado traded the forward to the New York Islanders this offseason.
Coyle is entering the final year of his six-year, $31.5 million deal.
