Confirmed Line-ups: Man City vs Man Utd, Casemiro on bench, Guardiola makes 6 changes

0 2

Manchester United take on Manchester City in the 197th Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

The Red Devils have picked up four points from their opening three games of the Premier League campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side are one point behind the Red Devils after back-to-back losses in the top-flight.

United will be aiming to inflict another defeat on their arch-rivals on the road.

Ahead of the game, manager Ruben Amorim has made four changes from the 3-2 victory over Burnley at Old Trafford.

Altay Bayindir makes his fourth straight start of the Premier League season and gets the nod over Senne Lammens in goal.

It is the same backline from the Clarets victory. Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw make up the central defence.

There is an enforced change in the wing-back department with Diogo Dalot picking up a muscle injury on international duty.

In his absence, Amorim has gone with Noussair Mazraoui at right wing-back, while Patrick Dorgu returns on the opposite end.

There is a big surprise in the centre of the park for United. Casemiro is on the substitutes’ bench and the same is the case with Kobbie Mainoo.

Manuel Ugarte makes his first start of the league campaign as a holding midfielder. He will be accompanied by skipper Bruno Fernandes in the no.8 role.

Further forward, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo start in the attacking midfield. Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount are ruled out with injuries.

Benjamin Sesko will lead the line for the Red Devils on the back of three substitute appearances at the start of his Premier League career.

Confirmed Man Utd line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Man City: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Amad; Sesko.

City, on the other hand, have made six changes from the recent defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Gianluigi Donnarumma makes his debut in goal ahead of James Trafford. There are three changes in the backline with John Stones, Matheus Nunes and Rayan Ait-Nouri making way.

Ruben Dias will partner Josko Gvardiol in central defence while Abdukodir Khusanov and Nico O’Reilly occupy the full-back positions against the Red Devils at the Etihad Stadium.

The midfield stays the same with Rodri in the number six role. Tijjani Reijnders and Bernardo Silva accompany the Spain international in the heart of the midfield today.

Their attack has a couple of changes too. Oscar Bobb and the injured Omar Marmoush don’t make the XI. Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku start either side of Erling Haaland instead.

Confirmed Man City line-up (4-3-3) vs Man Utd: Donnarumma; Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Rodri, Reijnders, Silva; Foden, Haaland, Doku.
