New Photo Of Anfernee Simons Emerges Amid Celtics Trade Rumors

The Boston Celtics have been busy this offseason, and while much has been made of the players they have lost over the past few months, one guy they did manage to bring to town is guard Anfernee Simons.

Coming back from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Jrue Holiday trade, Simons is a skilled scorer who figures to help replace the scoring output that will be missing during Jayson Tatum’s absence due to a torn Achilles tendon. Last season, Simons averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game for the Trail Blazers.

With the Celtics continuing to explore avenues for potential salary cap cuts, Simons has seen his name pop up in trade rumors from the moment he landed with his new team. To this point, though, no such deal has materialized.

While reports continue to indicate that Boston is exploring potential trades for Simons, it is also prepared for him to be a part of its roster next season. Case in point, a photo of Simons getting some on-court work in at the team’s facility recently emerged, indicating that he may not be getting traded anytime soon.

Should Simons stick around, he figures to be a key part of the C’s offensive game plan alongside Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard. However, as the season draws near, trade talks could ramp up, so a potential move can’t be written off just yet.

Regardless, it’s good to see Simons getting some work in, because Boston is going to need him to deliver if he suits up for them next season. All signs are pointing to Simons sticking around right now, but that could change quickly if the front office catches wind of a trade offer they like.
