Gazzetta: Juventus ‘cross their fingers’ as details behind Nico Gonzalez clause emerge
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Nico Gonzalez will need to make at least 21 La Liga appearances with Atletico Madrid this season to activate a €32m obligation to buy from Juventus.
Juventus ‘observe and cross their fingers’ as Nico Gonzalez prepares to begin his Atletico Madrid career, Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Fabio Russo wrote on Friday.
Figures behind Nico Gonzalez’s Atletico Madrid move
Nico was not part of Tudor’s plans and joined Atletico Madrid on deadline day on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
The loan fee is €1m while Atletico’s option to buy is set at €32m, practically the same sum paid by Juventus to sign the Argentine winger from Fiorentina a year ago.
How many appearances Nico needs for permanent Atletico move
Atletico Madrid’s option to buy becomes an obligation to purchase if certain conditions are met, but according to the Gazzetta report, Nico would need to make 21 La Liga appearances – playing at least 45 minutes in each of those – to join Atletico on a permanent deal automatically.
Nico accomplished this target over the last two seasons, playing 22 league games with Fiorentina in 2023-24 and 23 with Juventus last term.
