Lafayette High's first home football game in 4 years
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- For the first time since in four years, the Lafayette High School Mighty Lions will dominate the football field at home.
The 2025 Homecoming game marks a historic milestone for Lafayette High School with the completion of the new campus and state-of-the-art turf field, the Mighty Lions can once again host games on their own grounds.
In the past the team has played "home" games at alternate sites while construction was underway.
The game was originally scheduled to take place at Comeaux High School. However, the completion of the new field on the LHS campus will allow the team to return home just in time for Homecoming festivities.
“This game is about more than football. It’s about creating a culture that builds community and instills pride in our students,” said LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. “We are proud to see our students return to their home field and celebrate the growth and spirit of Lafayette High.”
The Homecoming game will take place this Friday night with kickoff starting at 7 p.m. According to the school's website, tickets will be sold at $12 for ages ten and up and $8 for ten and under. A clear bag policy will be enforced by security.
Lafayette High School encourages students, families, alumni and the entire community to attend, support the team and celebrate this new chapter.
