'I can't think what he does': Former Liverpool defender brutally slams Man United winger, fans will agree

0 4

Manchester United have made many transfer mistakes over the last decade but signing Jadon Sancho in 2021 appears to be their worst decision.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has piled on the criticism, questioning whether Sancho ever had the qualities to succeed at the top level.

He said on The Overlap: “I think he is okay but I don’t understand what his thing is.

“I have been critical of Marcus Rashford but if I picture him playing well I can picture his pace and his shooting.

“I don’t know what Sancho’s thing is. Every player has something but I can’t think in my head what he does. I have never seen it in my life. I haven’t.”

Sancho completed his switch to the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth around £73 million.

He has played 83 times for the United, netting only 12 goals and registering six assists.

Sancho is Man United’s worst signing

The 25-year-old dropped jaws with his performances for Dortmund at the start of his career.

His dazzling dribbling skills and vision to unlock defences compelled United to sign him after a long pursuit.

He was once considered Ballon d’Or-worthy, but his career has been in steep decline over the past four years.

Sancho has now spent the last 1.5 years on loan at Dortmund and Chelsea.

The winger performed marginally better on his Bundesliga return but failed to show any spark at the London club.

His reluctance to take a wage cut from his £200,000-per-week salary forced Chelsea to pay a £5m penalty to break their obligation to sign him permanently this summer.

He made headlines with a defiant “freedom” message aimed at United, but once again his football did not back up his words.

His lack of pace makes him unsuited to thrive in the Premier League, while his attitude makes him a liability for any football team in the world.

He has been sent on loan to Aston Villa for the 2025-26 season, with the Midlands club covering 80% of his wages and paying a loan fee to United.

United are now simply counting down the months, with Sancho expected to leave on a free when his contract finally expires in June 2026.
