Weekend preview: Women kick off league campaign at Whitchurch
Royal Wootton Bassett Town play their opening South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North fixture on Sunday when James Lally's side visit newly promoted Whitchurch (2pm kick off). Whitchurch claimed the Gloucestershire County Women's League title last season and will be looking to make their mark as they begin life at tier six. Bassett, meanwhile, will be aiming to begin what is hoped will be a promotion push with three points. The Men's First Team are away on Saturday too as they visit Lydney Town in the Hellenic League Premier Division (3pm kick off). The visit is Bassett's second to Lydney this season after the teams played out a 3-3 Emirates FA Cup draw, with Jonny Aitkenhead's side recording a convincing 3-0 replay win in Wiltshire. Also on Saturday the Development team are in home derby action against early Wiltshire League Premier Division pacesetters Swindon Supermarine Development (Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, 3pm kick off). Admission on Saturday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.
