Man United ace gives 'green light' to transfer after demanding contract extension in summer
Manchester United are close to agreeing on the departure of one of the worst players in their squad.
According to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, Andre Onana is close to joining Trabzonspor after giving his green light to leaving Manchester United.
The Turkish club want Onana to sign within 24 hours and talks are ongoing today to try and finalise the agreement.
Trabzonspor already have an agreement with United to sign Onana on a season-long loan.
The loan deal will not include an option to buy the 29-year-old permanently next summer.
The Red Devils will also not receive any loan fee for his services.
Onana moved to Old Trafford from Inter Milan in 2023 for a fee of around £47 million.
He was tasked with replacing David de Gea between the sticks after the club decided not to offer the Spaniard a new contract.
He has made 102 appearances for United and kept 18 Premier League clean sheets.
It was reported that the club are ready to back Onana and Altay Bayindir this campaign, as they focused on strengthening their attack.
The Cameroonian returned for pre-season with expectations of a contract extension, which puzzled United manager Ruben Amorim.
The head coach has started Bay?nd?r in three league games this season, with Onana featuring only in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town.
Both goalkeepers have made several high-profile errors over the past 24 months, and they are making the same mistakes this season.
The Red Devils acted quickly and secured the signature of Senne Lammens on transfer deadline day.
The 23-year-old is a highly promising talent and was statistically one of the best goalkeepers of last season.
Onana is not good enough to play for United and his exit will suit all parties.
