100% crosses, 100% long balls, 4 key passes: 62-touch Man Utd star dazzles with superb display on Int'l duty

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes delivered an impressive performance during Portugal’s 5-0 win over Armenia in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The 30-year-old has had a mixed start to the new campaign with the Red Devils, but he was brilliant for Roberto Martinez’s side against Armenia on the road.

Fernandes did not make a goal contribution in the 5-0 rout, but he hit the woodwork once. He was heavily involved with 62 touches and a passing accuracy of 89 percent.

The Red Devils ace completed 100 percent of his crosses (5/5) and 100 percent of his long balls (3/3). He provided four key passes while creating one big chance.

It was a good individual performance from the United skipper.

Portugal face Hungary in their next World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening. Given the importance of the fixture, Fernandes should make the starting line-up once more.

Another top showing would put him in good stead ahead of a crucial period in the Premier League.

The Red Devils face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on September 14. Just six days later, they will play hosts to Chelsea, whom they have not beaten since 2023.

It is a daunting fixture list for United. Despite adding quality to their attack, Fernandes could have a big role to play with his creativity from the number eight position.

Fernandes also needs to improve his positional awareness in his new role in future. He has lost possession on 15 occasions per game this term, which is incredibly high.
