Quite a hoot: Leander PD rescues owl trapped in soccer net
LEANDER (KXAN) — An owl was rescued Tuesday after becoming trapped overnight in a soccer net, according to the Leander Police Department.
The juvenile great horned owl was found owl by itself in the field of a local school and rescued by Leander Animal Services, the LPD said in a Tuesday social media post.
"We are calling this feisty cutie Keeper," Leander PD said, referencing the goalie position in the fictional sport of Quidditch from the "Harry Potter" franchise. "We think this happened last night when Keeper was attempting to capture the golden snitch during their first quidditch game of the year."
Keeper was put in the care of MoonShine Wildlife Rehabilitation, a center for sick, injured and displaced wildlife, according to Facebook.
"It is unknown which house Keeper belongs to, however 50 points have been awarded to Gryffindor as Dumbledore likes to have favorites" Leander PD said.
