Joe Gomez open for Milan transfer pending Liverpool agreement
Sunday’s reports claim that England and Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is open to the idea of joining Milan before the end of the summer transfer window, but the Rossoneri still need to strike a deal with his current club before a deal can go ahead.
Milan are expected to have a busy end to the summer transfer window with Alex Jimenez close to joining Bournemouth and Yunus Musah heading towards Atalanta. With Malick Thiaw having also been sold to Newcastle, Milan are on the hunt for a new centre-back, as well as a midfielder and centre-forward.
The Rossoneri have recently been turned down by Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji, which has left them looking at a potential deal for Joe Gomez from Liverpool instead.
Gomez open for Milan transfer
Updates from Gianluca Di Marzio claim that Gomez is open to joining Milan, but for several reasons, negotiations are not expected to be straightforward.
Firstly, Milan still need to agree a fee with Liverpool before a deal can go ahead. Secondly, the two parties will have to reach a compromise on personal terms.
The 15-time England international reportedly earns around €4m per season on his current deal.
Elsewhere, Milan are still looking to finalise a deal with Olympique de Marseille for Adrien Rabiot, and are also still looking for a new centre-forward.
