NBA All-Time Rank No. 24: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Ranking the top 50 players in NBA history…
24. Giannis Antetokounmpo
What an amazing success story Antetokounmpo is, and his career is (scarily) far from over.
Born December 6, 1994, in Athens, Greece, to Nigerian parents, Antetokounmpo has turned into one of the two- or three-best players of the current era. He has two NBA MVP trophies and an NBA championship ring to prove it.
Antetokounmpo earned the nickname “Greek Freak” for his unbelievable combination of size, speed and strength.
Selected at No. 15 overall in 2013, his NBA career had humble beginnings. Antetokounmpo wasn’t a monster out of the gate, averaging 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in his rookie season, earning All-Rookie Second Team honors. It took Giannis a few years to grow into his frame and add strength, and once he did, it was terrible news for the rest of the league.
In addition to winning his second-consecutive MVP in 2020, Antetokounmpo was named NBA Defensive Player of the Year that season, becoming one of only three players to win both in the same season.
He led the Bucks to an NBA championship in 2021, earning Finals MVP with a 50-point performance in the decisive game.
Antetokounmpo’s other accolades include nine NBA All-Star selections, five All-NBA First Team honors, and inclusion in the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
In 2025, he achieved 20,000 career points and set a record with a 35-point, 15-rebound, 20-assist game.
But who ranks ahead of Giannis at No. 23 all-time?
