Journalist confirms 'appreciation' from Saudi club for Man United midfielder but transfer unlikely
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes looks set to stay at Old Trafford this season.
Recent reports suggested that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad were weighing up a shock move for Fernandes this summer.
According to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, there is appreciation for Fernandes from Al-Ittihad but nothing developing in a formal sense yet.
Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr also tested the waters earlier in the summer, contacting the 30-year-old’s camp in an attempt to lure him away.
However, the club captain has expressed to all suitors that he wish to stay at Old Trafford.
Fernandes looks poised to Man United stay
Manager Ruben Amorim praised the Portuguese midfielder in front of the United staff for turning down a staggering wage offer from Al-Hilal to stay at Old Trafford.
The midfielder remains not only United’s leader on paper but also the heartbeat and catalyst of this team.
He is set for a new role under Amorim this term following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The new duo is expected to play as number 10s, with Fernandes dropping to the midfield pivot.
The skipper operated in that role alongside Casemiro in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last weekend.
He was often caught out of position, leaving Casemiro exposed and forcing him to cover vast areas.
Fernandes created a few chances but failed to dictate proceedings with his usual authority.
Over the years, the creative machine has proved his adaptability time and again, and the 2025–26 campaign looks like yet another challenge in his story at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils know that replacing Fernandes won’t be an easy task and may not entertain any bid this late in the transfer window.
