Bach, Baker and Bowden back for Bassett

Royal Wootton Bassett Town manager James Lally is leaning on experience as he seeks to guide his team back to tier five football. And forwards Kat Bach and Holly Baker and defender Alice Bowden all bring that ingredient which could be crucial in the 2025-26 South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North campaign. Baker is no stranger to Bassett having been with the club for close to a decade and, after a frustrating campaign last season, is looking to bounce back to her best and earn more game time this year. Bach and Bowden signed for Bassett last year. Bach enjoyed a solid debut campaign which she'll be looking to build on, while Bowden is a leader who adds quality to an already strong defence. Profiles of the players are available below. All three players are available to sponsor for the 2025-26 season for just £50. If you are interested in sponsoring any of our Men's First Team players, please contact Commercial Manager Mike Price (mike.price@rwbtfc.co.uk; 07496 733652) or Head of Women's Section Bryan Wood (bryan.wood@rwbtfc.co.uk; 07847 639406).

Alice Bowden (Defender)

Bowden is a vastly experienced defender who joined Bassett midway through the 2024-25 season, making ten appearances. A tough tackling defender capable of playing across the backline, Bowden is also composed on the ball and a leader, having previously captained Swindon Town. After starting her senior career with Swindon Supermarine, Bowden moved to the Robins with who she made more than 100 appearances over the course of a lengthy and highly successful spell. In recent seasons she has also featured for Abingdon United and Bristol Rovers.

Kat Bach (Forward)

Bach is an aggressive, hard-working forward with an eye for goal who joined Bassett last season. She had an impressive debut season too, scoring ten goals in 27 games including a brace in a 3-0 away win at Stockwood Wanderers. Bach joined from Cheltenham Town where she impressed for the Robins' Reserve team in 2023-24, scoring six goals in fifteen appearances as her team finished in third place in the FA Women's National League Reserve South West division. Her performances were also enough to earn a single appearance for Cheltenham's tier three First Team side. Prior to Cheltenham, Bach was with Swindon Town. She largely played for their Development team, finishing as top scorer with 25 goals in 22 games as Swindon finished third - a place behind Bassett - in the 2017-18 South West Regional Women's Football League Division One Eastern. Her appearances were more limited over the next couple of seasons, though Bach returned to a prominent role for Swindon's Development team in 2021-22, netting 7 times in 17 matches. Bach then featured 23 times for Swindon's First Team in 2022-23, scoring twice.

Holly Baker (Forward)

A long-serving player, Baker is a quick forward player who possesses a great ability to hold up the ball and combines well with her teammates. Capable of finding the back of net, Baker's work out of possession is just as important as she can always be relied upon to give her best effort for the team and is not afraid of getting stuck in. Baker has been with Bassett since the 2016-17 season, scoring five goals that year as Bassett finished runners-up in Gloucestershire County Women's League Division One and lifted the league cup. While netting just twice a season later - Bassett's first in the South West Women's Football League, Baker enjoyed her best season in front of goal in 2018-19, scoring eight times. Over the past four seasons Baker has scored ten goals in 53 appearances.
