Done deal: Bologna reach agreement for England U21 star Rowe
Reports in France claim that Bologna now have a full agreement in place for the transfer of former England U21 star Jonathan Rowe from Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille.
According to reports from Santi Arouma of Footmercato, Bologna have struck a deal with Marseille for a total fee of €19.5m including bonuses. The French side will also retain a 10% sell-on clause.
The Rossoblu have already agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old according to reports earlier in the week.
Bologna have Rowe agreement after Rabiot fight at Marseille
Bologna’s deal for Rowe comes after an unfortunate dressing room incident involving Adrien Rabiot at Marseille, which led to their both being placed on the transfer list.
As Marseille sporting director Mehdi Benatia explained, both players were involved in a fight after their 1-0 Ligue 1 loss against Rennes last weekend, which required intervention from security personnel to separate the two players.
Benatia admitted that “you can’t have people punching each other in the face and security coming to separate you.”
Benatia also added that both players were given 48 hours off in order to process the situation, but both were put on the transfer list after neither of them came up with an apology.
There had been suggestions that Rowe would become available on the transfer market this month anyway, given Marseille’s recent signing of Igor Paixao, but the post-Rennes fight has pushed the matter on quicker than originally expected, potentially to the benefit of Bologna.
