Celtics Send Strong Five-Word Message To Jayson Tatum Amid Injury Rehab
One of the biggest storylines from the Boston Celtics’ offseason has been Jayson Tatum’s injury rehab. After he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Tatum is expected to miss the entire 2025-26 campaign.
And yet, all signs point to Tatum being ahead of schedule when it comes to his recovery from this serious injury. For starters, he underwent surgery less than 24 hours after going down with this injury, which is done with the hopes of speeding up his recovery timeline. NBA players typically need 10-12 months to fully heal from a torn Achilles.
Since then, Tatum has attacked his injury rehab, and the results are paying off. He’s already shed the walking boot he had to sport earlier in the summer, and reports have indicated that he is moving pretty well considering the severity of this ailment.
Still, considering Tatum’s love for the game of basketball, being away from the court for an extended period of time has been understandably tough for him. After a clip of him discussing his rehab progress surfaced on social media, the Celtics sent him a supportive five-word message on social media.
“One day at a time,” the Celtics said in response to Tatum’s latest comments on his injury rehab.
In his eighth year in the league, Tatum put together another standout season for Boston. In 72 games, he averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and six assists per game, earning his sixth-straight All-Star selection and fourth-straight spot on the All-NBA First Team.
Without him, the C’s are going to face an uphill climb to remain competitive. While Jaylen Brown and Derrick White are still in town, guys like Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kornet have all departed this offseason.
There’s a small chance Tatum could return late next season, but Boston isn’t going to rush him, especially since they likely aren’t going to be competing for a championship next year. For now, Tatum’s primary goal is to get healthy, with the hope being that the Celtics can reemerge as a title contender in the 2026-27 campaign.
