Sancho salary demands stalling Roma deal with Manchester United
Multiple sources are reporting that Manchester United agreed to sell Jadon Sancho to Roma for €23m, but the player has not yet accepted personal terms, as he’d need a big pay cut.
The Italian media seem largely in agreement that the deal can be done on loan with obligation to buy for a total fee of circa €23m.
Manchester United are eager to get him off their books, as his current contract only runs to the end of the season.
Sancho wages a problem for Roma
However, the big problem would seem to be the player’s wages, which come to €15m per season gross.
Seeing as that is far beyond Roma’s capabilities, they are suggesting he sign a five-year contract to spread out the salary.
Sancho would be earning circa €4.5m per season plus bonuses, with the figures rising year on year, if he came to the Stadio Olimpico.
It remains to be seen if he will accept or hold out for more, knowing he has interest also from Juventus and Besiktas.
