What Makes Alex Bregman’s Players’ Weekend Bats Unique?
Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman used a little extra flair to kick off Player’s Weekend.
On Friday night, Bregman went 1-for-3 with a walk and drove in a run during Boston’s 2-1 walk-off win over the Marlins. That performance came with some help from custom-made bats that carried a personal touch.
The two-time World Series champion spoke about the bats Thursday at an event announcing his partnership with Boston brewery Sam Adams. One featured a bold yellow design tied to his Nemesis training brand. Bat maker Marucci posted a photo of Bregman with his new arsenal on social media.
“The yellow one is our baseball brand Nemesis. It says ‘pressure is a privilege,’” Bregman told Jake Roy of NESN. He explained the brand’s mission is to push athletes toward peak performance through training and therapy while promoting “a lifestyle of wanting to be the best at all times.”
Not every design carried a professional edge. Another bat came from the imagination of his 3-year-old son, Knox.
“The other bat, my son Knox made a drawing and it was great,” Bregman said. Asked if Knox had seen the finished product, Bregman replied, “He’s going to see it for the first time Friday.”
It was not the first time Knox has left his mark on his dad’s baseball life. In June of 2024, the then nearly 2-year-old barged into a clubhouse interview to lobby for a trip to the batting cage.
“He’s been begging all weekend,” Bregman said at the time, according to Matt Young of the Houston Chronicle.
Knox himself added his own confirmation: “Cage and the dugout.”
No matter which bat he has in hand, Bregman has impressed in his first year in Boston.
He is batting .299 with 86 hits, 16 home runs, 50 RBI and 47 runs scored in 76 games this season.
Bregman’s Player’s Weekend bats may be custom, but the family inspiration behind them is a recurring theme.
