Aston Villa v Newcastle United: how to watch, kick-off time, TV channels and streams
Aston Villa’s 2025/26 Premier League season gets underway at home against Newcastle United on Saturday. And it’s live!
Villa seem to have just about kept themselves together despite what could have been a distracting summer of transfer chatter and near-obsessive focus on football finance. Newcastle have had a slightly tougher time, but then they’ve got the Champions League to look forward to so it’s not all bad.
The home team will hand out at least one debut, with Marco Bizot coming in for suspended goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez after his red card against Manchester United in the final fixture of last season. Latest signing Evann Guessand could also feature.
Here’s all the information you need to watch Villa’s Premier League opener anywhere in the world.
What time does Villa v Newcastle kick off?
Villa’s first game of the Premier League season starts at 12.30pm UK time on Saturday 16th August.
It’s the second game of the new campaign, with Liverpool v AFC Bournemouth taking place at Anfield on Friday night and the rest of the opening weekend fixtures scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, when promoted Leeds United welcome Everton to Elland Road for Monday Night Football.
Where to watch Villa v Newcastle in the UK
Villa’s home game against Newcastle United is the Premier League season opener for secondary broadcast partner TNT Sports and thus will be available to watch for subscribers on TNT Sports 1 as well as TNT Sports Ultimate and via the Discovery+ streaming platform.
Viewers will be talked through the game by Darren Fletcher on commentary, with Rangers and Scotland legend Ally McCoist alongside him on the gantry.
Former Villa players Joe Cole and Peter Crouch will join presenter Lynsey Hipgrave, presumably on the pitch on this occasion, as the punditry team for the match.
There will apparently be reporting contributions from Becky Ives and Jules Breach, while Villa supporters should keep an eye out for what’s sure to be an enlightening feature in which Danny Jamieson discusses all things claret and blue with Unai Emery, Damian Vidagany and Monchi.
