Parma swoop for Troilo, beating Pisa to €7m Belgrano defender
While Pisa had been in talks for several weeks, it is now reported that Belgrano defender Mariano Troilo is instead coming to Serie A for Parma at €7m, replacing Giovanni Leoni.
The developments of the last 48 hours have transformed the transfer market in Serie A, as Liverpool paying €31m plus €4m in add-ons for Leoni had a knock-on effect.
It meant Parma needed a replacement and suddenly had an influx of cash, so were able to make their swoop for Troilo.
Troilo the heir to Leoni in Parma
The 22-year-old had been linked with Pisa for quite some time, but the newly-promoted club did not make the move stick.
Sky Sport Italia report Pisa had agreed terms for €4m plus a huge 50 per cent cut of the future sale fee.
There would be a clause for Pisa to then buy the other 50 per cent of his contract in June 2026.
However, Parma were able to come in and buy the defender outright for €7m, giving them the upper hand.
