How much Roma need to offer Aston Villa to land Jamaica international Bailey
Roma are interested in a deal with Premier League side Aston Villa for Jamaica international Leon Bailey, but updates on Thursday suggest the deal will not be particularly straightforward to pull off for financial reasons.
According to reports from The Athletic on Wednesday, Gian Piero Gasperini and the Giallorossi are among the sides interested in a deal for Bailey, along with Besiktas and some unspecified teams in the Saudi Pro League.
It is understood that there has not yet been any direct contact between Roma and Aston Villa as things stand.
Gasperini, who traditionally lines his team up in some variation of a 3-4-3, is looking for multiple additions before the end of the transfer window to bolster his attacking options.
How much will Bailey cost Roma?
According to updates from Orazio Accomando, Roma are looking at the possibility of bringing Bailey to the Stadio Olimpico on loan with an option to buy.
It is estimated that Roma will need to fork out a fee in excess of €25m, including the loan fee, in order to convince Aston Villa into selling.
Bailey reportedly earns a salary of around €3.5m per year on his current contract with Aston Villa.
Several other names have been mentioned for the Giallorossi. Julio Enciso from Brighton and Hove Albion is also of interest to Roma, as well as Bailey rather than an alternative. Reports on Thursday also suggest that Jadon Sancho could be another option if the Bailey deal does not come off.
