Sky Sports: Club have made transfer bid for 25-year-old Man Utd star

0 24

Manchester United have had a productive transfer window with four signings thus far.

They have primarily focused on bolstering their attack after a disappointing 2024/25 season.

The club have added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Diego Leon to their ranks, and more arrivals could depend on player sales.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has now revealed that AS Roma have made a £20 million offer for Jadon Sancho, and the Red Devils are considering it.

Borussia Dortmund and Besiktas are also keen on landing the England international.

United poised to part ways with Sancho

The 25-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan with league rivals Chelsea. The Blues had an obligation to buy him for £25m, but cancelled the agreement by paying a £5m fee.

Sancho is now expected to pursue a new challenge away from the Red Devils. Roma have proposed to sign him for £20m, which is only £5m less than what he was valued at last summer.

It makes sense to part ways with Sancho, given he has entered the last year of his £250,000 per week deal (basic before bonuses).

The club’s hierarchy have an option to extend his contract by 12 months, but that may not be triggered due to his hefty salary.

In our view, Roma are unlikely to meet his current weekly wage package. Paulo Dybala is the highest earner at the club at £217,000 per week, followed by three players at £109,000.

A transfer could ultimately depend on Sancho accepting a huge pay cut. United may also need to compensate the player with a small payoff for the salary reduction at Roma.
