Tottenham enter battle with six Premier League clubs for £60m midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur have now entered the race to sign a Brighton midfielder, who is on the wishlist of many of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.
Tottenham have already added to their stocks in central midfield this summer, with Thomas Frank admitting that he is delighted to have Joao Palhinha on board.
However, over the last few days, some sources have claimed that Spurs may add another defensive midfielder to their squad despite landing Palhinha.
The Lilywhites have now reportedly turned their attention to a Brighton man, who has emerged as one of the most talented number sixes in the Premier League over the last two seasons.
Tottenham ready to battle Premier League clubs for Carlos Baleba
This update comes from CaughtOffside, who say that Tottenham are now eyeing a deal for Carlos Baleba, who was on the radar of Manchester United.
The Red Devils were previously at the forefront to land the 21-year-old, who Ruben Amorim has identified as a ‘priority target’.
The Portuguese coach believes that Beleba’s strength and ball-winning abilities will improve his midfield, but the Manchester club allegedly face competition from Spurs, who are eyeing the Brighton man as a potential replacement for Yves Bissouma.
The report adds that Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are also monitoring the former Lille man.
A big offer is needed to sign Carlos Baleba
CaughtOffside say that the Seagulls have no intention of cashing in on the midfielder and are well protected since the player’s contract runs until 2028.
The South Coast club have made it clear that it would take an offer of around €60m–€70m (£52m-£60.6) to prise Baleba away from the Amex Stadium.
The publication says that it is not clear if any of the 21-year-old’s suitors would be prepared to pay that fee, but they add that the player would be attracted by the idea of moving to a bigger club and competing for silverware.
