'Initial talks held': 21yo Man Utd ace set for Championship loan transfer
Manchester United are trying to finalise their squad for the upcoming season with just three weeks remaining in the transfer window.
According to reliable journalist Nathan Salt, initial talks have been held for Toby Collyer to join Hull City on a season-long loan.
Sheffield Wednesday are also in the hunt, but Collyer appears ready to pack his bags and walk through the United exit door for the 2025–26 campaign.
The 21-year-old was part of the pre-season trip to the United States.
The lack of European competition means Collyer may not see regular game time this term.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes is set to pull the strings in midfield following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo could partner Fernandes in the centre of the park.
The Red Devils are also exploring ways to sign Brighton & Hove Albion sensation Carlos Baleba.
Amorim is eager to sign an athletic midfielder with sharp defensive instincts and the ability to carry the ball forward with confidence.
Collyer is a superb talent, but his development will be more focused in a less scrutinised environment.
A Championship loan spell would not only sharpen his skills but also serve as a proper litmus test of his top-level credentials.
Collyer joined United from Brighton in 2022 and has a contract that runs until 2027.
He impressed with the under-21s and was rewarded with his senior debut against Manchester City in the Community Shield in August 2024.
He has featured 12 more times for the senior United side.
Harry Amass could follow in his footsteps to a temporary switch away from Old Trafford.
The 18-year-old is in hot demand, with around 15 clubs across England and Europe reportedly contacting United for his signature.
Dan Gore, Radek Vitek, Ethan Wheatley, Jack Moorhouse and other academy stars have already secured loan transfers this summer.
