Roddy – ‘Two weeks to ensure we’re flying for Airdrie’

0 0

SPIDERS midfielder Roddy Macgregor says he and his team-mates fell ‘way below’ their expected standards in Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Arbroath.

lifted spirits in the closing stages but was a consolation strike following three goals earlier in the second half for the Red Lichties.

That gave Queen’s Park too much to do and they fell to a first competitive home defeat.

With no game next weekend the Spiders have a fortnight of training at Lochinch to work the result out of their system before returning to the William Hill Championship at Airdrie.

Midfielder Macgregor said: “ We’d obviously rather a game next weekend to put things right, but we’ve got a week off competitive games so we’ll have a look at what went wrong and just build and put things right.

“It’s up to us to make sure we’re all flying and really ready to go when we play Airdrie in a couple of weeks.”

On the match he added: “We knew it was going to be a really hard game against Arbroath, it always is, but for whatever reason, we were we were miles off it.

“Hopefully we can learn from that.

It was way below our standards as a team.

“We’re all asking ourselves where we went wrong because it’s just such a completely different performance to last weekend and we know that it was nowhere near good enough.

“It is early in the season though. Hopefully we can learn from that as I said, and put things right a couple of weeks.”

Queen’s Park are not back at home until next month, when Partick Thistle visit the southside on September 6.
