Amorim raves about £73.6m Man Utd star, he may not start vs Arsenal

Manchester United completed the blockbuster signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko earlier today.

Speaking to MUTV, United head coach Ruben Amorim praised Sesko and backed him to enjoy a great career.

He said: “He has the characteristics that we needed.

“Ben is a player that, with all the information that we have, we need to stop the guy from working – it is not the opposite! That is also important.

“He is really young, he is good in the air, he is good running the channels and he is good on the ball, so I think he has great potential.

“I think he can improve a lot.”

United have agreed to a package worth €85 million (£73.6m) to land one of the best emerging strikers in the world.

Sesko netted 39 goals and recorded eight assists in 87 games for RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old stands at 6ft 5in and will offer the physical presence United were missing in their attack.

Renowned for his thunderous long-range strikes, Sesko offers a rare weapon in a squad short on such firepower.

His arrival caps off an attacking department overhaul that has also seen Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo join the ranks.

While Cunha and Mbeumo look set to start next weekend against Arsenal in the Premier League opener, Sesko may not be match fit yet.

United fans will be eager to see him link up with the squad, but Amorim knows his star man needs to hit peak sharpness before leading the line.

United signed Rasmus Hojlund in 2023, as he was known for making direct runs into channels.

However, the Dane struggled to cope with the physicality of the English top-flight.

Thriving at United does not demand talent alone, but also requires strong character to embrace pressure.
