Tottenham fans divided over surprise Jack Grealish links after James Maddison injury

0 7

Tottenham supporters appear divided following fresh links with Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish, with opinions split on whether the England international would be a smart addition or another underwhelming decision from the club’s hierarchy.

It was revealed earlier today that Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Manchester City regarding Jack Grealish to understand the winger’s current situation at the Etihad.

Reports indicate that the discussions are not at an advanced stage, as Tottenham continue to assess their options in the wide forward positions ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

Spurs are rather light in the final third, particularly in the number ten role, with injuries to both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski further depleting the squad.

A player like Grealish, who is comfortable on the left flank and in central attacking areas, could be seen as a smart short-term solution.

Spurs fans have now voiced their opinion following the reports linking the club with a potential move for Jack Grealish. The reaction has been mixed, with some open to the idea of signing the Manchester City man, while others remain far from convinced.

One supporter said: “Wonder if the club see him as a 10 or a left winger. If they sign him & only him because they think he covers both then I cannot even begin to mention how unacceptable that would be.”

Another replied: “Everyone going to be against it but I would LOVE it lmao.” One fan suggested there were more appealing options available, sharing a clip of Eberechi Eze and writing: “Think there are much better options on the market.”

Someone else remarked that they would only welcome Jack Grealish at Tottenham under specific conditions: “I would not be against a loan if it means we go big in forward areas. I see Grealish as more of a Maddison replacement than a Son replacement.”

A more measured take read: “Would not mind it. Not sure why everyone is against it and talking about Eze, Xavi Simons etc. When these options are not happening because we have moved too late. Covers LW and the 10, would not mind a loan because I still think we can upgrade.”

One fan was less impressed, calling the move “absolutely desperate stuff if true.” Another took aim at the club’s financial strategy, asking: “What happened to the MGW money? I would not be surprised if it never existed. Levy is throwing Frank under the bus from the start.”

The final comment summed up the cautious optimism shared by some: “If that is the case then he will be a Tottenham player. Typical Levy – need a CAM & LW so we will go for the loan option instead of one of the best that can do it in Eze. Not mad at Grealish at all, still think he is good and can get back to it especially under Frank but I am not sure.”

Why Spurs fans are right to be cautious about Grealish

Tottenham supporters have every reason to feel frustrated with how the summer transfer window has played out so far.

Despite being crowned champions of Europe, Spurs have not moved with the kind of intent expected of a side aiming to dominate again, with Mohammed Kudus the only major addition following his £55 million move from West Ham United.

Jack Grealish could be an interesting fit and would certainly arrive at Tottenham with something to prove, especially with the 2026 World Cup looming large.

However, with just one goal in twenty Premier League appearances last season, it is understandable why some within the fanbase are questioning the club’s interest.

Jack Grealish Stats (Premier League 2024-25)
