Club 'open initial talks' with Man Utd for 21yo ace, want more than £40m

Manchester United could turn their attention to selling their unwanted first-team stars with only three weeks remaining in the transfer window.

According to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea have opened initial talks to sign Man United star Alejandro Garnacho.

The 21-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford after manager Ruben Amorim deemed him surplus to requirements.

Amorim omitted Garnacho from the starting XI in the UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Garnacho criticised the head coach post-match and was subsequently dropped from the Premier League finale.

The Argentina international netted 11 goals and bagged ten assists in 58 appearances last season.

United are seeking in excess of £40 million to offload Garnacho but Chelsea feel the price will drop later in the window.

The Red Devils have already splurged close to £130m on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as part of their summer overhaul.

They are also set to spend over £70m to bring in RB Leipzig sensation Benjamin Sesko.

United need to balance their books and their best bet is by selling Garnacho this summer.

He is supremely talented and could have a bright future if he maintains the right mindset.

The Argentine lit up the academy before Erik ten Hag handed him his senior debut, fast-tracking him into the first team.

The young attacker has already made 144 senior appearances for the club, a rare feat for a forward who has only just turned 21.

Garnacho is a traditional winger who likes to stay wide before cutting inside to take on defenders.

Amorim prefers a 3-4-2-1 system and wants his forwards to operate in more central pockets.

In an inflated market where players like Noni Madueke, Anthony Elanga, and Mohammed Kudus have fetched close to £50m, United must not sell Garnacho on the cheap.
