Man United U21s open new season at Riverside as PL2 fixture list drops

0 4

The 2025/26 Premier League 2 fixtures have been released, with Manchester United set to face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in their first game on August 18.

They face Norwich City in their first home fixture on August 22 before hosting local rivals and defending champions Manchester City on August 31.

United will then take a trip to Merseyside on September 21 to take on Liverpool and return on October 5 to face Everton.

Travis Binnion’s side will take on Fulham, who finished second during the regular season last term, on January 16.

They will host Chelsea on February 27 and also welcome last season’s play-off runners-up, Southampton, on March 13.

Each team faces each other once, with a play-off after the fixtures’ conclusion, and the final will be staged on May 16.

The young Reds endured a disappointing campaign last term, finishing fifth before losing in the play-off semi-final to Man City.

The new season will be without several key players, many of whom have been loaned out.

Striker Ethan Wheatley has joined League One outfit Northampton Town, and midfielder Jack Moorhouse has moved to Leyton Orient.

Goalkeeper Elyh Harrison and full-back Habeeb Ogunneye have also completed loan transfers to Shrewsbury Town and Newport County, respectively.

United intensified their preparation for the new season with a pre-season friendly against National League side Rochdale last Saturday – a game played in honour of former Academy player Joe Thompson, who died in April.

They will face the Dale again in the National League Cup group stage, alongside fixtures against Blackburn Rovers, Everton, Burnley, Morecambe, Solihull Moors, and Tamworth.
