Will Lankshear is very impressed by player Tottenham signed last summer
Will Lankshear has admitted that he has been impressed by a fellow Tottenham youngster in training as the pair of them hope to become regulars in the club’s first-team.
While Thomas Frank and his coaching staff would have known a lot about the senior figures in the Tottenham first-team, having come up against them plenty of times.
This pre-season has been an opportunity for them to get their first look at the young talent at the club. One of those is Yang Min-hyeok, who has travelled with the Tottenham squad on their pre-season trip to Asia.
The 19-year-old, who impressed during his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers last season, was an unused substitute for Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Arsenal, but it appears he has been catching the eye in training.
Will Lankshear is excited by Yang Min-hyeok at Tottenham
Lankshear, who is also part of the travelling contingent to Asia, has now revealed that he has been impressed with the South Korean in pre-season.
The Spurs academy striker referred to Yang as an ‘exciting prospect’, but admitted that, like him, the winger is still learning the ropes about playing at the highest level.
Lankshear said (via Football.London): “Yang is similar to me, I think he is actually younger than me. So much learning to do, but he is an exciting prospect.
“For me, seeing how quick and agile he is. I was super impressed with him when he played for QPR in the Championship. He did ever so well, and that can’t go unnoticed. He scored goals, and he played well.
“We played against them, and I thought he was very good. He is in the learning period and still has much to learn, like me and the others. There is an exciting prospect there.”
Yang is expected to be loaned out
The teenage winger appeared to get better the more he played in the Championship last term, finishing with two goals and an assist in 14 appearances for QPR.
Yang is expected to be loaned out again by Tottenham this summer as he continues to acclimatise to the pace and intensity of English football.
The fact that Yang is one of five Spurs youngsters who have travelled to Asia suggests that Thomas Frank and his coaching staff like the look of the nippy winger.
