'Enjoying it': Man Utd ace says he has 'coped easier' after move from Arsenal
Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven has said that he is enjoying his time at the club, having moved from Arsenal in February.
The 18-year-old signed for the Red Devils for a nominal transfer fee after turning down a new contract at the north London outfit.
Heaven has since made a big impression. The centre-back has managed six appearances, including a league debut against Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Englishman was brilliant during the second half of the 1-1 draw against the Gunners back in March, where United were unfortunate not to win the game.
David Raya made a couple of incredible stops to deny Bruno Fernandes and Noussair Mazraoui.
United and Arsenal will resume their rivalry later this month, and ahead of the encounter, Heaven has said that he is enjoying his time after his switch to Manchester.
When asked about his move, he said via (Manutd.com): “Yeah, I’ve coped easier than I thought, to be fair. My family’s obviously come out with me, and that’s helped.
“The squad is really kind and welcoming. That’s helped as well. And, yeah, I’ve fitted in well with them. Yeah, I’m just enjoying it at the moment.”
Heaven added that he is looking forward to the first game of the season alongside his teammates. He added: “I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to the first game of the season.
“For us to show the fans what we can do, me included, and yeah, we can’t wait.”
United manager Ruben Amorim prefers a left-footed centre-back on the left side of the back three.
Heaven and Luke Shaw played 45 minutes apiece during the first friendly against Leeds United.
Heaven started against West Ham United in the first game of the Premier League Summer Series before being replaced by Shaw. It was the vice-versa during the next outing against Bournemouth.
It remains to be seen whether Amorim will pick one of the duo against the Gunners. In our view, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro seem the most likely combination to face Arsenal.
However, Amorim’s desire to start with a left-footed centre-back could pave the way for Heaven or Shaw to feature in the XI.
We should get a fair idea of the likely line-up when United take on Everton in the final friendly of the US pre-season tour.
