Dundee 1 Queen’s Park 2 – CAS Advanced Youth

0 2

QUEEN’S PARK under-19s began their CAS Advanced Youth campaign with a 2-1 win over Dundee at the Regional Performance Centre on Tuesday.

A first half goal from Conor Falls and a winner from Josiah Sowa earned the first competitive win of the season for Charley King’s squad.

This was an impressive display from the squad who were in control for long periods of the game.

Falls’ opener after ten minutes was the difference between the sides until an equaliser for the hosts on the hour mark.

A good move from the young Spiders saw Liam McLeish lace a pass into Fall’s feet and he rounded  goalkeeper Lewis McKelvie to open the account for the season.

Queen’s Park could have had another couple of goals in the first half but Falls’ early strike split the difference until Dundee took their clearest opportunity of the game on the hour.

Coach King rang the changes from the bench and his substitutes mad an impact.

Sam MacLachlan was introduced and had a key role within the winner.

Leo Fisher sent a ball to the substitute and his assist was converted by Sowa for the winner.

Charley King said: “This was a decent performance from the team for the first match of the campaign.

“We should maybe have been more comfortable in the first half, but we saw the right reaction when Dundee equalised – which was maybe their only real chance up til that point.

“The changes had the impact we were hoping for and we saw it out after Josiah’s goal and did well to defend that.”

Next up for the squad is a friendly with Rangers on Saturday.

King added: “We saw plenty of the ball against Dundee and we expect a different game against Rangers which is valuable to face another opponent of a good standard and one with a different style of play.”

QUEEN’S PARK: Aitchison, Rodger, L.Fisher, O.Fisher, Burke,Collie, Clark, Goldie, McLeish Falls, Sowa.
Substitutes: Trialist, Matheson, Trialist, Smith, Maclachlan.
