Club could now allocate £34.6m to sign United star after Ndoye joins Nottingham Forest - report

0 8

Napoli could return for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho this summer after Dan Ndoye chose to join Nottingham Forest, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 11).

The Serie A champions were keen on signing the Argentine at the start of the year, but the asking price put them off. Garnacho was also not keen on moving to Naples.

However, the scenario has since changed. The Red Devils have lowered their demands for the winger. Napoli also have a ‘different appeal’ after winning the Scudetto last season.

Napoli recently missed out on signing Bologna’s Dan Ndoye for £34.6 million after he decided to join Forest. The club could now utilise the funds to make a fresh raid for Garnacho.

The ‘Garnacho idea returns’ with Napoli still open to signing a young profile winger.

United could prefer offloading Garnacho abroad

Garnacho had a decent 2024/25 campaign with 21 goal contributions from 58 appearances. However, most of his involvements came outside of the Premier League, where he was inconsistent.

The 21-year-old was only a late substitute in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, while he did not make the matchday squad for the last Premier League game against Aston Villa.

Garnacho has reportedly had a fallout with manager Ruben Amorim, and the Portuguese tactician has already told the versatile winger to ‘find a new club‘ during the ongoing transfer window.

United are widely expected to part ways with the graduate. They have lowered their price tag from £70m to £40m. Garnacho seems to prefer staying in the Premier League next season.

He is reportedly waiting for an approach from Chelsea, but the Blues have yet to make an offer.

If United were to choose his destination, they would ideally prefer to offload him abroad. It would not be a good sight seeing the Argentine develop into an elite winger playing for a direct rival.

The Red Devils could be willing to lower their price tag further to meet Napoli’s budget (£34.6m), but the big question remains whether the Naples outfit can agree on personal terms with the winger.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna revealed that Garnacho’s demands were excessive last winter. A compromise is needed for the United graduate to join the Serie A holders.
