Man Utd blow as Red Devils announce that 27y/o who played v Leeds has now picked up injury

0 2

Manchester United faced West Ham United in the early hours of today in the Premier League Summer Series on their pre-season tour of the United States, securing a 2-1 victory courtesy of a brace from Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils face Bournemouth next but could do so without Noussair Mazraoui after they announced that the 27-year-old missed out against West Ham due to a knock.

The Morocco international defender featured against Leeds United last Saturday, starting the game in Sweden, but he was not deemed fit enough to play against the Hammers.

The severity of the knock is unknown and it will be interesting to see whether he will be available for selection against the Cherries on Thursday.

Man United are already without goalkeeper Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee, with the Cameroon international expected to spend up to three weeks on the sidelines, while the Netherlands international was unavailable against both Leeds and West Ham.

The Red Devils cannot afford injuries right now with the new Premier League season starting on August 17 – three weeks from now.

They take on Arsenal at Old Trafford in their first game of 2025-26, and head coach Ruben Amorim needs his best players available if Man United want to hit the ground running in the new season.

The aforementioned trio were all injured in training, and the team needs to avoid further occurrences going forward as preparations for the new campaign continue.

They had a woeful campaign in 2024-25, finishing 15th in the Premier League table and losing the final of the Europa League against Tottenham Hotspur, missing out on European football in 2025-26 as a result.

Man United will only be playing in the three domestic competitions next term, and they will not have any excuses for failing to impress after adding Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to their squad.
