Terry Francona Trolls Former Red Sox Catcher With Video

Former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona remains a beloved figure in New England after leading Boston to two World Series championships and winning the second-most games (744) of any manager in team history.

The future Hall of Famer recently won his 2,000th game as a manager with the Cincinnati Reds and has done a solid job during his first year as Reds’ skipper, with his team currently in the mix for a Wild Card spot in the National League with a 54-50 record.

Considered one of Major League Baseball’s great personalities, Francona’s loose vibes as a manager have won him the adoration of Red Sox legends such as Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz, and Kevin Millar. Tito is always down to take part in a good on-field prank. That was evident again on Friday when he trolled former Red Sox catcher and current Tampa Bay Rays skipper Kevin Cash with an embarrassing tribute video.

Cash, who played eight seasons in MLB, including two stints with the Red Sox between 2007 and 2008, and again in 2010, wasn’t exactly the most dangerous hitter during his time in the big leagues. The lifetime .183 hitter was lampooned by Francona when he had the Reds’ scoreboard operator hilariously play a clip of Cash striking out with the Red Sox on the center field jumbotron during pre-game warmups.

Cash, whose Rays ball club is currently 53-51 and 1.5 games behind the Red Sox for the final American League Wild Card spot, is best remembered from his time as a backup catcher behind Jason Varitek on a Red Sox team that would go on to win the 2007 World Series.
