Robles double in narrow Bay win
TWO goals from Louis Robles helped Colwyn Bay come from 0-2 down to win 4-3 in their final pre-season friendly against Northern Premier League side Bootle at the Blue Turtle Arena.
The Merseysiders, managed by former Bay boss Alan Morgan, took an early two goal lead with goals from Courtney Duffus and Joe Woolley in the opening seven minutes, but Ethan Roberts sparked the Seagulls fightback when he scored at the far post after 12 minutes.
Aeron Edwards put a chance wide from Matty Hill’s cut back, before Matty equalised on 35minutes following good work on the left by Ethan Roberts.
Louis Robles then put the Bay in front at half-time when he ran onto a chipped pass over the defence by Aeron Edwards, after a great long ball by Lewis Sirrell to Ethan Roberts.
Robles got his second goal of the game with a glancing header from Matty Hill’s cross on 53 minutes to make it 4-2..
Bootle got a third goal a minute later when Dior Angus’s shot got a huge deflection and looped over Bay’s trialist keeper.
The visitors had some half chances to equalise but McGowan (twice) and Rankin were all off target, while at the other end some great defending prevented Bay adding a fifth goal.
The Bay squad on duty were: Rhys Williams, Aron Williams, Nathan Peate, Lewis Sirrell, Sam Hart, Jay Owen, Rhys Nash, Aeron Edwards, Ethan Roberts, Matty Hill, Louis Robles, Aaron Williams, Issa Kargbo, Owen Davies, Dan Atkins, Jamie Cumming, Max McGoona, Ben Hoban, Trialist.
