Menands man accused of embezzling $120k from soccer club
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Menands man has been accused of misappropriating funds for the Latham Soccer Club for his own personal use. William Nevins, 54, was charged with second-degree grand larceny.
The Colonie Police Department said it received a report in October 2022 from the Latham Soccer Club stating a former treasurer was suspected of embezzlement. Police began investigating and found that between September 2017 and May 2022, Nevins diverted more than $120,000 from the Latham Soccer Club by using the club's checking account for personal purchases.
Nevins was arraigned on Wednesday in Colonie Town Court and released. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Colonie Police Department's Detective Division at (518) 783-2754.
