Preview: Midtjylland (A)

The Hibees travel to Denmark to face FC Midtjylland in the first leg of our UEFA Europa League second qualifying round tie!

The match will take place on Thursday 24 July at MCH Arena; with kick-off at 7:30pm CEST (6:30pm UK time).

THE LOWDOWN

Hibernian return to European competition with an away trip to Herning, Denmark, following weeks of pre-season preparations. 

Pre-season fixtures versus MSV Duisburg, Ajax, Rot-Weiss Essen, and AFC Bournemouth preceded Sunday's match against Bolton Wanderers at Easter Road Stadium.

That match saw a first outing for new Hibs forward Thibault Klidjé, who recently joined the Club from Swiss Super League club FC Luzern for a club-record fee.

THE HOSTS

FC Midtjylland finished second in the 2024/25 Danish Superliga last season, and kicked off their 2025/26 league campaign this past Sunday.

Thomas Thomasberg's side scored late to earn a 3-3 home draw with Odense Boldklub, with Franculino Djú netting a brace either side of Adam Buska's solitary strike. 

On the European stage last season, Midtjylland were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the play-off stage by Slovakian outfit Slovan Bratislava.

The Danish side dropped into the UEFA Europa League, and progressed to the knockout phase play-off round, where they were defeated 7-3 on aggregate by Spanish side Real Sociedad.

Tickets for the match are sold out, if you do not have a ticket to the game – please do not travel to the Stadium on matchday.

Hibernian FC staff will be operating ticket collection points in Herning, Denmark ahead of Thursday's fixture.
