Perrone: Permanent Como transfer from Man City ‘the best decision’

0 5

Máximo Perrone insists that a permanent move to Como from Manchester City was the ‘best decision’ for his career, but won’t compare Cesc Fabregas and Pep Guardiola: ‘It makes no sense.’

The Argentine talent recently completed a permanent transfer to Como after spending the 2024-25 season on loan at the Stadio Sinigaglia.

“It wasn’t a difficult decision because I’ve felt well with everyone at Como since the very beginning: the coach, the technical staff, the team and the fans. I’m convinced it was the best decision for my career,” Perrone told Gazzetta.

“I decided to stay at Como because I feel I will grow more here, and the national team will be a consequence of what I do on the pitch. I’m focused on doing well here, and this will bring me closer to my target.”

Como have already completed several signings this summer and are currently the biggest spenders in Italy’s top flight.

“It’s been an important transfer window. We are pleased to welcome new, talented teammates who will undoubtedly help us take that next step forward that everyone expects,” said Perrone.

“We must only train and remain focused on the daily work to improve. We know where we come from, but we strive for the best.”

Perrone made 26 appearances under Cesc Fabregas in 2024-25 and had played two Manchester City matches under Guardiola during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

“Obviously, they have something in common, but it makes no sense to compare them,” the midfielder said when asked to compare the two coaches.

“Cesc has taken on his own path and has had a great start.”

Perrone has yet to score his first goal for Como.

“I’m not obsessed with scoring goals,” he admitted.

“If it helps the team, that’s fine; otherwise, there are many other ways to be useful, and this is the target.”

Lastly, he named the central midfielder who impressed him the most in his first season in Serie A, Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu.

Como paid €13m to make Perrone’s move permanent. The 22-year-old has signed a contract to 2029.
