Chelsea in pursuit of high-profile Manchester United winger as price plummets
After being informed that he is not part of manager Ruben Amorim’s plans for the upcoming season at Manchester United, one young forward is now looking for a fresh start—and his top priority is to stay in the Premier League.
In this context, three English clubs have shown serious interest. Over the past few hours, they’ve begun inquiring about his availability, hoping to make a formal offer before the transfer window closes on August 31.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Chelsea—the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions—have Alejandro Garnacho on their radar. In response to that interest, Manchester United has reportedly set a price tag close to £40 million (just over $53 million), which they consider acceptable for starting negotiations.
Garnacho is significantly lower than what United asked back in January, when Chelsea and Napoli were also exploring a deal. At the time, the club demanded £60 million—£20 million more than now—indicating a clear intent to part ways with a player no longer in their plans.
Among the interested clubs, Chelsea appears to be the most eager to secure the deal. However, the Blues must first offload a few players to create space in their wage structure. One of the key names expected to leave is Christopher Nkunku.
Garnacho stats at Manchester United
The Argentine winger recorded 11 goals and 10 assists across 58 appearances last season. Since joining the club, he has tallied 26 goals and 22 assists in 144 official matches.
