Bruins Draftee Had Message For Adam Sandler After Funny Video On Draft Night

James Hagens experienced one of the “coolest moments” of his life when Adam Sandler, playing the role of Happy Gilmore, announced the Boston Bruins drafted Hagens in the 2025 NHL Draft.

“It’s something that doesn’t feel real,” Hagens said on draft night. “He’s a funny guy so hopefully I can meet him in person one day.”

Well, that opportunity already presented itself to Hagens.

The Boston College product attended the premiere of “Happy Gilmore 2” in New York City on Monday. Hagens introduced himself to Sandler, as shared in a video posted by the Bruins official social media account.

The caption read: “Thank you for drafting me.”

Sandler, who grew up in Manchester, N.H., wore a Bruins jersey during the well-known film “Happy Gilmore.” And with the sequel set to release July 25, it served as a funny promotion and added to the lifetime achievement.
