North Stand Configuration for 2026

The Club is seeking the views of supporters for the future configuration of the North Stand in the Brandywell for the 2026 season.

The stand has been a tremendous success, and we thank supporters who have filled this consistently since the opening of the facility.

In considering the future, there are two approaches which can be taken and we are seeking input from supporters before consulting with other stakeholders, and making a decision.

 

Existing Seating:

The stand is currently configured to offer seated facilities to supporters and this option would see this continue into the future.

For those purchasing season tickets these seats would be available to them for all domestic League fixtures, with the ability to purchase these same seats for domestic cup fixtures and also for European fixtures.

 

Safe Standing. 

Under this proposal, the area would be configured as safe standing, i.e. with standing deployed for home league and cup fixtures.  This would mean that the North Stand would be available for supporters to stand only and, therefore, seats for League and Cup fixtures would no longer be a possibility.

This would allow for a larger capacity for domestic league and cup fixtures.  It should be noted that it would not be possible to purchase a specific seat in these fixtures as this will now be deemed as a standing area.  If it’s decided that the North Stand will be a Safe Standing area in the Brandywell in 2026, supporters will still be able to buy season tickets for the North Stand but they will be standing season tickets, not seated.  Under the current regulations, the capacity would be reduced for European ties to the seated capacity.

Therefore whilst given priority access, supporters would not be guaranteed a ticket for any European fixtures held at Brandywell as it is feasible that there would be more Safe Standing season ticket-holders in the North Stand than the amount of seats we would be permitted for a European fixture.
