Agent reveals Genoa’s De Winter rejected ‘massive offer from Saudi Arabia’ amid Inter links
The agent of Genoa defender Koni De Winter has revealed the Belgian international “received a massive offer from Saudi Arabia but didn’t even consider it”, amid rumours linking him with a move to Inter this summer.
Speaking with TuttoJuve, Fabrizio Lioi, De Winter’s agent, clarified that “Koni is very happy at Genoa” and has enjoyed the city, the fans and developing there as a player.
However, Lioi admitted “it is no secret that Genoa are a selling club” and that “Koni has been put in the shop window and if the right offer arrives, he could leave.”
Former Juventus man De Winter flourishes in Genoa
De Winter signed for Juventus’ youth academy in 2018 from Belgian side Zulte Waregem but never broke into the Bianconeri first team. He made two Champions League appearances for the Old Lady before successive loan spells away at Empoli and Genoa.
Genoa’s loan including an obligation-to-buy if certain conditions are met and his move was made permanent in 2024. Since signing for the Rossoblu, De Winter has made 54 Serie A appearances for the club and received his first call-up to the Belgian national team in 2024.
Lioi informed TuttoJuve that “Juventus are not in for Koni De Winter – as of today, it’s a closed book. There have been contacts with other clubs but, of course, this is the transfer market and things can always change in the blink of an eye.”
He concluded by saying that “There are many clubs interested – some of whom already play in European competitions and are therefore ahead in the race by default. Out of respect, I won’t name any teams but of course the player has his own preferences.
“It’s only natural: players want to compete at the highest level, otherwise there is no point in moving. In recent days, he received a massive offer from Saudi Arabia, but Koni didn’t even consider it: he wants to stay in Europe and play in top competitions. Talks are ongoing – his intention is to listen to everyone without prejudice and then make a calm, considered decision. He’s not the kind of kid who lets fame go to his head.”
