Man United ready to adopt radical approach to improve PSR compliance
Manchester United are ready to sell several academy players to improve their compliance with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), according to Manchester Evening News.
United have compiled a list of players who are above 18 and have offered them to other clubs.
‘Those clubs have been surprised’ by the players offered to them because United paid a substantial fee to acquire the youngsters.
MEN claims the Manchester outfit are willing to sell some for free, and others for a small fee, but with sell-on clauses included in the deals.
The families of the affected players are said to be taken aback by this approach as they were not consulted before the decision was made, but Man United have denied same.
MEN reports United believe the club are within their rights to sell those players while maintaining that they can decide to turn down those moves.
Also, the approach is to recoup funds from sales of players they believe will not be good enough to play for the first team.
It has been suggested that this move is the latest in the club’s desire to cut costs across the board.
While United are reportedly ready to sell several academy players, they have also shown intent to keep the best talents at the club.
United have agreed a four-year deal with gifted centre-back Jayden Ngwashi, who had attracted interest from top European clubs.
Meanwhile, promising centre-back Godwill Kukonki is set to sign his first professional contract with the Manchester outfit.
The acquisition of Chido Obi from rivals Arsenal, Sekou Kone, and most recently Diego Leon indicates the club’s commitment to investing in the academy.
While United are ready to part ways with some youngsters, they are equally committed to strengthening the academy.
