Assessing Liverpool’s Transfer Business So Far
Liverpool are Premier League champions again—but this time, it feels like a last hurrah for one era, and the beginning of something new. The 2024/25 title win was the crowning moment of Jürgen Klopp’s side, but the sense at Anfield is clear: evolve now, or risk decline under Arne Slot.
The Dutchman lifted the title in his first season after replacing Klopp—a feat that stunned fans, pundits, and even sparked a surge in interest in free bets for existing customers across the country, as many were already eager to back Liverpool to defend their crown.
Slot isn’t simply tweaking Klopp’s team—he’s reimagining it. His Feyenoord side shocked free bet odds in the Netherlands and impressed with tactical flexibility, modern pressing, and positional rotations. Those ideas are already taking root at Anfield. The new recruits reflect a shift away from Klopp’s vertical chaos toward controlled aggression and structured dominance.
Importantly, Liverpool’s recruitment has been about addressing long-term needs rather than grabbing headlines. This isn’t a vanity project—it’s a structural rebuild with a clear plan.
Following a year of smart financial planning behind them, Liverpool are investing in youth, energy, and a new tactical identity. The rebuild is well underway—foundations being laid while the roof is still intact
A New Spine Takes Shape
The headline signing so far is Florian Wirtz. At just 22, the German playmaker is already one of Europe’s most intelligent and creative midfielders. His signing signals intent. Liverpool aren’t just buying talent, they’re investing in the future spine of the team. Wirtz offers the kind of versatility and vision that fits perfectly with Slot’s fluid, attacking style. The fact they could prise a player away from Manchester City and Bayern Munich shows they mean business.
His teammate Jeremie Frimpong also joined from Leverkusen. With Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid, Frimpong fills the void with his explosive pace and attacking mindset. He joins a Dutch contingent on Merseyside which ensures a seamless integration into the system, once again linking up with Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk.
On the other flank, Milos Kerkez’s addition injects youth and energy into the left back position. His impressive performances at Bournemouth caught the eye, as he offers both immediate impact and long-term potential.
Kerkez expressed his excitement about joining Liverpool, stating it’s “every kid’s dream” to play for the club. With Andy Robertson not getting any younger, now seemed the perfect time to sign a player that is proven in the Premier League in one of the worst kept secrets of the summer.
Building Depth and Looking Ahead
Things changed in the minds of Newcastle’s Saudis regarding Alexander Isak. Unsellable in June, the Magpies have now opened up the possibility of his departure after having advanced on Hugo Ekitike in recent hours. The price? £120 million.

Between the sticks, Liverpool have already lost Harvey Davies and Caoimhin Kelleher but have made efforts to address the depth in goal. Freddie Woodman arrives on a free transfer at the end of his contract, and we also get to see Giorgi Mamardashvili — the Georgian arriving after a loan spell back at Valencia. At 6’6”, the Georgian goalkeeper combines imposing presence with quick reflexes, and at 23, has the potential to guard Liverpool’s net for a decade once Alisson moves on.
And there looks to be more to come. Alexander Isak is a tantalising target. With his blend of pace, technique, and Premier League pedigree, the Newcastle striker would provide depth and a potential successor to Darwin Núñez. Meanwhile, Julián Álvarez would bring elite-level movement and link play—especially if Atletico Madrid decide they can part with him for the right price, though this is more of a fantasy signing for Reds fans.
At the back, Marc Guéhi is being monitored. The Crystal Palace centre back would be a smart addition should Ibrahima Konaté choose to run down his contract. Guéhi offers reliability, ball-playing ability, and homegrown status—ticking several important boxes.
This is Slot’s Liverpool now. The club is building with clarity and purpose—not chasing headlines but shaping a new identity. The title may have come last season, but it was the end of one chapter. This is a new one.
