Manchester United U18s produced a brilliant display in their first pre-season fixture, thrashing Queens Park Rangers 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Talented forward JJ Gabriel was one of the standout players, scoring a fantastic goal in the game.

He showed relentlessness in recovering possession. He ran into the penalty area, evaded his markers, and unleashed a powerful shot into the back of the net.

United led 4-1 at the break, with goals from Gabriel, Jay McEvoy, Louie Bradbury, and Edward Ibrovic-Fletcher.

Ibrovic-Fletcher netted again in the second half. Goals from Bassirou Nkoto and Douka Nkoto completed the rout.

Gabriel debuted in the U18 Premier League last term and is expected to play a key role for the U18s next season.

He debuted in April, replacing midfielder Jim Thwaites, in the 13-1 thrashing of Leeds United at the Aon Training Complex.

The English youngster netted a brace in the fixture, earning the praise of senior forward Marcus Rashford, who called him a ‘future star’.

He made his second appearance in the penultimate game of the league season, scoring in a home win against Stoke City.

Despite interest from other clubs, he has reportedly committed his future to the Mancunian giants.

Club legend Darren Fletcher will oversee his progress. He is set to be appointed as the U18s coach, replacing Adam Lawrence.

The talented forward is not the only youngster who committed his future to United this summer.

Teenage centre-back Jayden Ngwashi has also done the same, having agreed a four-year contract with the Manchester outfit.

Ngwashi also debuted for the U18s in the league last term, having started the victory over Middlesbrough in March. He also made his first appearance for the U21s in the Premier League 2.

With a promising group of youngsters, United are expected to be in the running for the league title next term.
