Scalvini centre of Milan, Napoli and Newcastle United transfer battle
After Newcastle United interest, now Milan and Napoli are reportedly vying for Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini, the Rossoneri proposing cash plus Malick Thiaw.
Scalvini is one of the hottest properties on the transfer market this summer, although it will take something special for La Dea to part with him.
A product of their prolific youth academy, he is still only 21 years of age, despite having already accumulated 89 Serie A appearances.
It would’ve been more, but he has barely set foot on the pitch in the last year following two serious knee injuries.
Scalvini sought after for several clubs
Newcastle United had already put Scalvini at the top of their list of priorities to reinforce the defence this summer, but there is strong competition from within Serie A.
According to Sport Mediaset, both Napoli and Milan are ready to push hard for the Italy international, with the Partenopei seeing him as an alternative to Sam Beukema of Bologna at €35m plus €5m in add-ons.
It is now reported that Milan are hoping to lower the cost of the operation by offering €15m cash plus ownership of German centre-back Thiaw.
The situation around Thiaw has been tricky, with a move to Como seemingly falling apart because he was not convinced by the destination.
