How Kristaps Porzingis Feels About Fit With Hawks After Celtics Deal
Kristaps Porzingis appreciated his time with the Boston Celtics, but is looking forward to his next stop with the Atlanta Hawks.
“Honestly, it’s the perfect scenario, the perfect scenario,” Porzingis told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Lauren Williams, as shared by Boston.com’s Conor Ryan. “I’m super, super excited about what’s coming.”
Porzingis was traded to Atlanta in a three-team agreement, which was finalized Monday. Boston acquired Georges Niang in the cost-cutting deal.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Atlanta ranked fifth in points scored per game but 27th in points allowed. The Hawks also ranked in the bottom half of the league in 3-point percentage.
Porzingis’ presence at the rim and beyond the arc could aid Atlanta on both ends, he believes.
“I think I’ll fit right in here and add more diversity, maybe even more offense,” Porzingis told Williams. “I think there’s going to be more layers to this offense that’s already pretty powerful. But yeah, I think we can really be a force offensively.”
Porzingis, who enters his age-30 season and final under contract, averaged 19.8 points per game on 39.2% from long range during his Celtics tenure.
