Lionel Messi makes MLS history with record-breaking brace in Inter Miami win

0 3
Inter Miami climbs to 5th place in the East with a 2–1 win over New England. Messi bags another brace and now has the team on a 5-game unbeaten streak.

Lionel Messi has reached another milestone in Major League Soccer, becoming the first player in league history to score at least two goals in four consecutive matches. He achieved this feat during Inter Miami’s 2–1 win over the New England Revolution.

With this result, Inter Miami extended their unbeaten streak to five matches, the last four all ending in victories under head coach Javier Mascherano.

The Herons now sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with 35 points, despite having three games in hand compared to teams above them in the standings due to their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Messi’s first goal came in the 27th minute, following a defensive error by Tanner Beason, who mishit a clearance and left the ball perfectly placed for the Argentine to score with a stunning volley.

His second goal came in the 38th minute, when Sergio Busquets delivered a long pass from beyond midfield. Messi struck the ball first-time from the edge of the box, beating the goalkeeper to double the lead.

Excitement builds over Rodrigo De Paul transfer rumors

One of the biggest storylines in the current transfer window is the potential move of Rodrigo De Paul to Inter Miami, reportedly at the request of Lionel Messi. Among those eager for this reunion is young Argentine midfielder Baltasar Rodríguez, who couldn’t hide his excitement at the idea of playing alongside another World Cup winner.

“It would be amazing if he came,” Rodríguez told AFP. “We’re happy with Leo here, but having another world champion on the team would be something really special.”

Head coach Javier Mascherano was more reserved when addressing the rumors:
“Everyone knows the quality of a player like that,” he said. “But as I always say, I don’t like to talk about players who are not part of our club.”

According to several Spanish media reports, De Paul’s time at Atlético Madrid may be coming to an end, and the midfielder is now evaluating new opportunities to continue his career.
